“Youth Voice” National Advocacy Campaigns – Summary

The “Youth Voice” Regional Campaign was launched in October 2014 and gathered 80 organizations from 23 countries from the region of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The Global Strategy meeting between UNFPA and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on ICPD Beyond 2014 and the Post 2015 Development Agenda was held from 23-25 January 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the meeting was to ensure meaningful engagement of civil society organizations, including youth networks, among which Y-PEER, YouAct, Youth Coalition and others to ensure that the outcomes of the ICPD Beyond 2014 review process are taken forward and integrated in the best possible way into the post 2015 agenda.

Better education, health and employment opportunities are youth priorities

Better education, opportunity for employment and better healthcare are the main priorities for the youth according the outcome of the online survey done by UN “My World 2015”. These issues which were voted by 1422 young people from Macedonia aged 16-30 were discussed on today youth conference “Youth participation and recommendation for the future development agenda of United Nation” organized by Y-Peer Macedonia.

The Making of our local campaign in The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

Macedonia is proud to join the regional campaign focused on youth participation in the United Nations’ development agenda post-2015, “Youth voice-the future that I want in Eastern Europe and Central Asia” which was launched in the early October of 2014. We are calling on all young people to come and present their views on issues that affect them. The campaign in Macedonia is implemented by the Y-PEER network, and its motto is “I share my ideas loudly”.

“Never before have there been so many young people. Never again is there likely to be such potential for economic and social progress. How we meet the needs and aspirations of young people will define our common future.”

With these words from Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin UNFPA Executive Director, Y-PEER Macedonia opened the addressing and explained the importance of joining the regional campaign “Youth Voice”. The addressing was delivered at the Press Conference held in the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje, on the Observance of 1st of December-World AIDS day.

Y-PEER Macedonia joined the regional campaign “Youth Voice-The Future we want” and in the past weeks gave young people a true chance for their voice to be heard, and, of course, is continuing with its activities. The EECA Youth Voice Campaign shares on daily basis many facts and reasons on why this campaign is of great importance for the youth from the region and which is the rationale behind its great significance, but let us share the story how we did it on our lands, or the “Making of” of our local campaign.
