“Y-PEER and Me” is an online campaign to motivate all Y-PEERians and young people around the world to share their successful stories and best practices. This campaign also aims to activate Y-PEER online platforms to use it as effective tool for change and youth empowerment.

Youth advocates take on child marriage, gender inequality in Albania

KORÇA, Albania – “When I was sixth grade, my mother used to say, very often, ‘Finish this year, and do not go to school anymore’,” said Gina,* a youth advocate from the marginalized Roma community in Albania.

In many ways, she did what her mother expected. She became engaged at 15 and married soon afterward. By 19 years old, she was a mother.

“Youth Voice” Campaign updates from Albania

In Albania, the activities of Youth Voice campaign are being carried out by a network of 11 formal youth organizations, and 2 youth groups/clubs, specialized and working in different areas, especially with vulnerable young people, supported by UNFPA Albania and coordinated by the Observatory for the Children’s Rights. The organizations are networking with each–other and implementing various activities at National level, in different regions throughout Albania for the period July – November 2015. 

World Population Day celebration in Albania

The theme for this year’s World Population Day celebrated on July 11 is “Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies”. The world is seeing a record number of people displaced by crises – some 60 million according to the latest UN figures. UNFPA works in emergency settings around the globe to respond to the rights and needs of women and girls, helping them maintain their dignity, securing their safety, and restoring their access to sexual and reproductive health care.

The “National Youth Action Plan 2015-2020” in Albania

My name is Blerta, I am from Albania and I was invited as a youth representative of Albanian Center for Population and Development (ACPD) to be part of a very interesting meeting on Healthy Lifestyle Education in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, held in Istanbul from 16-18 February.

ICPD Beyond 2014 and young people in Albania

Following the advocacy work on integration of young people’s priorities in the Post2015 agenda from UNFPA/ICPD perspective, UNFPA Albania CO has produced a short video with young people voicing their concerns and commitment of key government people and advocates of ICPD to fulfil and realize these priorities through actions.
